Reactive Asbestos Air Monitoring

• Air monitoring is required to ensure an area is safe from asbestos fibres. We can attend licensed and non-licensed works. The types of work we cover range from encapsulation to removals of AIB or insulation.

If you are removing an ACM, air monitoring may be required for an air test on completion of the works or throughout the duration of the project.

• Background air monitoring: Air testing is completed before work commences to determine baseline fibre levels
• Leak air monitoring – If you have an enclosure set up, leak air monitoring ensures that no fibres are escaping from the enclosure via possible gaps
• Personal air monitoring – A personal air test is placed on an operative to ensure that the individual is safe during works and what they may be exposed to
• Reassurance air testing – This is completed post works to ensure the area is free from fibres and can be accessed again
• Near Source – Assesses the release of fibres near a source
• Far Source – Assesses the release of fibres around the perimeter of a site, this could be where other operatives are working, public access or residential areas
• 4SC – Certificate of reoccupation following licensed removal works

Yes, we are UKAS accredited to BS EN ISO/IEC 17025.

Our analysts hold P403 (Air sampling), P404 (Clearance) and AA qualifications (Asbestos Awareness) as well as any other training required, for example:  confined space, working at height.

The analyst will place their pumps in the area the air testing and will remain on site to count the filter paper and produce a certificate digitally at the end of the testing period.

If the analyst advises you that the fibre levels are high, works will need to stop. Our analyst will stay on site and advise you of the appropriate measures you can implement  in order to keep levels as low as reasonably practicable and carry out a further test/s  for the duration of the works to ensure safe limits are maintained.

Asbestos air monitoring (also known as asbestos air testing) is a requirement of the Control of Asbestos Regulation (CAR 2012) . Its purpose is to monitor fibre levels during the asbestos removal process or if an ACM has been disturbed. It is essential during asbestos four-stage clearances, leading to a certificate of reoccupation. Analysts use specialist equipment to monitor the air and work in accordance with HSE regulations and guidance HSG 248 ‘The Analysts Guide For Sampling, Analysis and Clearance Procedures’.
