Hazard House

A real life house with real life hazards. Test your knowledge and practical skills as you walk through Hazard House. Equipped with over 180 different mock-asbestos and Legionella product locations, this award winning training aid allows delegates to interact with realistic challenges.

Training Pods

Six dedicated training pods within the Manchester training facility, which offer interactive access to support asbestos sampling and surveying best practices and non-licensed asbestos removal.

We also have Legionella and water hygiene pods which provide practical experience with TMV maintenance, tank cleaning and shower head cleaning.

Asbestos Removal Enclosure

A pre-built full-size asbestos removal enclosure and a decontamination unit with viewing panels. This unit allows training delegates to experience a realistic asbestos removal environment and this particular interaction will prepare them for the real world.

Classroom Hire

Our fully equipped classrooms in Manchester and Essex are perfectly located and available to hire for your own meetings or training events. Rooms can be arranged in theatre or board meeting room style and can seat between 12 and 16 people. We have a breakout area and a Meet and Greet reception to ensure everything runs smoothly. Yes. Bookings made online can be viewed by logging into in our secure course bookings area. Delegates will also be able to access the courses booked for them in the same way, once booked delegates will be emailed a password to login.

Yes. AEC is accredited by nationally recognised bodies such as BOHS, IATP and IOSH to deliver a wide range of courses.

All our courses are taught by our own specialist trainers, with between 15 and 38 years experience in their respective disciplines.  Our trainers have worked as UKAS/LCA technical and quality managers so have a detailed understanding of the needs of our clients.

Meet the Trainer

Ian
Trainer
Ian started his career in laboratory settings in the early 80’s. With the introduction of the licensing regulations, Ian worked in air testing, including supervision of removals, bulk analysis and then surveying. He has also worked in environmental health, asbestos monitoring and other environmental monitoring, including soils and water. In 2019 Ian joined AEC as a trainer. Ian delivers IATP asbestos awareness, through to BOHS Proficiency certificates for asbestos professionals, P401 for Bulk lab staff, p408 – quantification of asbestos in soils, P402 for surveyors, P403 &404 for site analysts, P405 for those managing asbestos and M504 for occupational hygienists and consultancies wanting an understanding across all asbestos monitoring. Ian also teaches more specialist asbestos courses, often bespoke for clients, including, duty to manage and asbestos awareness in soils. His general environmental background has also ideally places Ian to train legionella awareness and BOHS P900 & P901 courses.
Daniel
Trainer, Quality Systems and Laboratory Manager
Daniel has worked at AEC for over 20 years, and is currently the company Quality and Laboratory Manager. After completing a degree in Environmental Analysis , Daniel initially started with us as a lead surveyor and successfully completed the P405 and S301 qualifications. After further progressing his career in project management, Daniel moved into training in 2012. Using his vast industry experience and natural teaching style Daniel is perfectly placed to teach the asbestos awareness and non-licensed removal courses , and BOHS P400 series of courses.
Matt
Trainer
Matt is an experienced trainer and senior consultant based in Manchester. He is qualified to Masters Degree level in Conservation Biology and also a qualified Teacher of Science, with more than a decade’s experience in the classroom. Having started his career in asbestos in 2004 Matt is able to combine practical, real world experience with theoretical knowledge to give delegates a rounded learning experience. Matt teaches: Asbestos Awareness, Non-Licenced Asbestos Removal, P400 Asbestos Foundation Module, P402 Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings, P403 Air Sampling and Fibre Counting (PCM), P404 Clearance Testing and the Requirements for the Certificate of Reoccupation and P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings (including Asbestos Removal).
