Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

 Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving net zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets set out in the graph below.

Having currently more than met our target emission reduction for the next five years, to 2028, our projected fall in 58.76 tCO2e has already been delivered. This is a reduction of 13.67 %

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2019 baseline. The carbon emissions reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 58.76 tCO2e, a 13.67% reduction against the 2019 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract.

Our completed carbon reduction projects include:

• Achieving and maintaining ISO 14001.
• The installation of LED lighting.
• The introduction of electric, hybrid and ULEZ and CAZ compliant ICE vehicles.
• The installation of electric vehicle charging points at our head office.
• The introduction of a cycle to work scheme.
• The introduction of policies to cut down on the use of electricity and gas in our office spaces.
• The reduction in size of our utilised office space.
• The introduction of some degree of home working.
• The use of public transport wherever possible.
• The use of Abax and Alpha Tracker software to schedule our site visits in the most environmentally friendly sequence and using the most low-carbon-impact routes.
• Delivering our training courses online, rather than in the classroom.

Future projects:

• The move to an entirely electric fleet of vehicles.
• The roll out of more electric charging points at our head office and the introduction of electric charging points at our southern regional office.
• Further reduction in the size of our office space.
• Expansion of our home working arrangements.
• The introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) across our business.

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard[1] and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting[2].

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard[3].

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
